Solana's read layer hasn't been meaningfully touched since launch — all the engineering went into write throughput and consensus while RPC nodes stayed monolithic, forcing anyone running read infra to eat validator-grade hardware costs. Splitting accounts and ledger into independent modules with columnar storage for historical queries is basically applying the analytics database playbook (ClickHouse, DuckDB-style patterns) to chain data. Triton already dominates Solana's data infra through Yellowstone gRPC and Old Faithful, so handing them the Foundation-backed rebuild further cements them as a single point of dependency for the entire read stack — good for performance, worth watching from a centralization standpoint.
